This has superseded the Nomenclature of Units for Territorial Statistics (NUTS) classification system. This transition has not changed the names of regions or the areas covered by them. All data in this release are based on the new GVA(B) method. This release is intended to aid users in analysing subregional productivity data only. For analysis at the national level, the latest productivity e<nconomic commentary should be used. For analysis at the regional level, the latest regional labour productivity release should be used. However, users of the subregional data often wish to compare these data to national data, so UK and regional data are also included within this workbook for comparison purposes.$Productivity economic commentary, UKoThis workbook provides the references tables published with the ONS Subregional Productivity July 2022 release._Productivity Hours Worked per Week; ITL2 and ITL3 subregions (constrained to ITL1), 2004 - 2020NProductivity Jobs; ITL2 and ITL3 subregions (constrained to ITL1), 2002 - 2020 Regional labour productivity, UK2019=100DorsetUK less Extra-RegiojTable A1: Current Price (smoothed) GVA (B) per hour worked indices; ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2004 - 2020lTable A2: Current Price (unsmoothed) GVA (B) per hour worked indices; ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2004 - 2020fTable A3: Current Price (smoothed) GVA (B) per hour worked (); ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2004 - 2020hTable A4: Current Price (unsmoothed) GVA (B) per hour worked (); ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2004 - 2020iTable B1: Current Price (smoothed) GVA (B) per filled job indices; ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2002 - 2020kTable B2: Current Price (unsmoothed) GVA (B) per filled job indices; ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2002 - 2020eTable B3: Current Price (smoothed) GVA (B) per filled job (); ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2002 - 2020gTable B4: Current Price (unsmoothed) GVA (B) per filled job (); ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2002 - 2020iTable A1: Current Price (smoothed) GVA (B) per hour worked indices; ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2004 - 2020kTable A2: Current Price (unsmoothed) GVA (B) per hour worked indices; ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2004 - 2020eTable A3: Current Price (smoothed) GVA (B) per hour worked (); ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2004 - 2020gTable A4: Current Price (unsmoothed) GVA (B) per hour worked (); ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2004 - 2020hTable B1: Current Price (smoothed) GVA (B) per filled job indices; ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2002 - 2020jTable B2: Current Price (unsmoothed) GVA (B) per filled job indices; ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2002 - 2020dTable B3: Current Price (smoothed) GVA (B) per filled job (); ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2002 - 2020fTable B4: Current Price (unsmoothed) GVA (B) per filled job (); ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2002 - 2020mTable A5: Chained Volume (unsmoothed) GVA (B) per hour worked indices; ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2004 - 2020lTable B5: Chained Volume (unsmoothed) GVA (B) per filled job indices; ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2002 - 20205Chained Volume versus Current Price productivity datalTable A5: Chained Volume (unsmoothed) GVA (B) per hour worked indices; ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2004 - 2020kTable B5: Chained Volume (unsmoothed) GVA (B) per filled job indices; ITL2 and ITL3 subregions, 2002 - 2020CIdeally, all year-on-year change in the productivity estimates in this data would represent "true" changes. However, it is also possible that the data can reflect volatility because of sampling and non-sampling errors. This is more likely where sample sizes are small, which can occur at smaller geographical areas. For this reason, both temporally smoothed and unsmoothed estimates are provided for current price data. For estimates of productivity in CVM, only unsmoothed data series are provided to avoid multiple averaging of data as the GVA(B) data are already chain-linked.Data are presented in index form in two different ways. Current Price index: current price indexed data are used to show how levels of current price productivity differ from the UK average for any region for a given year. For example, if an area s current price productivity index is 115, its labour productivity is estimated to be 15% higher than the UK average, while an area with a current price productivity index of 85 is estimated to be 15% lower than the UK average. It should be noted that when used in this context, a decrease in the productivity index number of a subregion does not necessarily mean that the subregion's productivity has decreased in actual terms; it rather means that the subregion has seen lower growth than the rest of the UK over the period. In other words, its actual productivity level may have improved, but at a slower rate than the UK overall, therefore declining relative to the UK equals 100 index. Chained Volume index: chained volume indexed data are used to compare the productivity of a region for against a base year, which in this case is 2019, in constant price terms. From these indices, year-on-year changes in CVM productivity can be calculated. For example, if an area s chained volume productivity index is 108 in 2020, its labour productivity is estimated to be 8% higher in 2020 than it was 2019, while a chained volume productivity index of 92 is estimated to be 8% lower than in 2019. Chained volume productivity indices should not be compared across areas. A lower chained volume index for a subregion compared to another does not necessarily mean it was less productive in that year; rather it means that the subregion had lower productivity relative to its productivity in 2019.HNote 1: Data are current price; ie, data are not adjusted for inflation.ENote 1: Data are chained volume; ie, data are adjusted for inflation. The balanced GVA(B) data used in this release are measured in current prices, which includes the effect of inflation, and in constant prices or Chained Volume measure (CVM), with the effect of inflation removed. The CVM data are most useful for assessing time series trends. They allow us to understand whether there has been any increase in volumes of goods and services, with the effects of changes in prices removed. By contrast, when using current price data, it is not possible to differentiate between the effects of price changes and quantity changes across time. The current price data are used for in year comparisons between different areas.D DFEZEEE<FzOFFF1GoEGGG*Hg>H|HH H_7ItIIIW-JjJJJN%K{KLzLSMMG N )O O* P NQ Q DR R=gSTT8U,VV/BWXxX*YY6ZX[\,]l]^j^_^Baa:btgj`sm}r ccW PK![Content_Types].xmlN0EH-J@%ǎǢ|ș$زULTB l,3;rØJB+$G]7O٭V~&}"!ᇺ_Ν =r!sh ۴T**~ r׮+JOp'M:kүݭjkh [+wc5(_Zw:Mנ_^F֯A)v[_BJ Pl5 cFZԩnΕ(,cuc;P@$=9K !'> BLra)l)oڣh#CZ&beIĐD7 o߼9{og/^=eVe80_~n&_xw_?zоIwOG,:D?DĒ@!vnu6Y7=B>ı0]hq qޜOM#N\{7Ql9=M f-G8S Ǝ=%IJk 9l,k 4I @ʅH~-tx F]n }L-3CS">i}$CތM\[Ht)#,Ky ?
